CT-STEM Pilot Teacher Logistics for 2013-2014 Academic Year

1. Pilot Teacher Agreement
- Everyone has signed this. Just included here in case needed.

2. Pilot Teacher Consent Form

3. Consent forms + Letters of Explanation of Research
- In the first week of class, have your students read, in-class, the 'Letter to Students' and take home the 'Letter to Parents'.
- BOTH student and parent sign the Student Consent Form.
- Make a copy of the consent form for your records. Bring the signed originals to the first Saturday workshop for our team to keep.
- Make a clear list of the students who have permission to participate in our study, so that on the day we do classroom observations, we can avoid videotaping any students who do not have permission.

4. Student Attitudinal Survey (2x, once at beginning, once at end of year)
- Online, ~15 minutes to complete.

- Assign https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HYTT3TG to your students by September 30th.
- We will email you list of names of your students who have completed it, so you can pressure those who haven't.

- Assign https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HYTT3TG after you've taught your final CT-STEM lesson for the year.
(You don't need to do this within a specific time frame of the final lesson).
Email l-trouille@northwestern.edu if your students have any trouble accessing the survey. It should be all set for this 2nd set of responses.

5. Attend 5 CT-STEM Saturday Workshops

6. Teach 5 CT-STEM Lessons
- Use the versions of the lessons posted here
- Must teach 5 of our CT-STEM lessons by June 2014
- Indicate which ones you'll teach here
- Email us 10 days before you plan to start teaching a CT-STEM lesson in your classroom with a tentative date.
- Email again 5 days before with the definite date/time.
- After each lesson, fill out post-implementation teacher feedback survey as soon as possible (while still fresh in your mind):
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/XGWWGR8, 5-10 minutes to complete.
- If teaching part regular and part honors, fill out the survey twice, to go with each student group type.

- For a subset of the CT-STEM lessons you teach, we will come with audio/video to record.
- While you teach, we may pull aside 2-3 students at a time for short (<5 minute) mini-interviews.

- For Netlogo questions, email Kai Orton <k-orton@northwestern.edu> & David Weintrop <dweintrop@u.northwestern.edu>

7. CT-STEM Assessments
- Before you teach any CT-STEM lessons, assign the Universal Assessment at http://ct-stem-assess.herokuapp.com/

- After each CT-STEM lesson you teach (ideally within 3 days of the final day of that lesson), administer one of the other assessments at
http://ct-stem-assess.herokuapp.com/ (like Purple Bugs or Warblers)

- Assessments are to be done In-class, online, and take 20-30 minutes.

- The assessments cover range in CT skills. Each lesson does not have its own specific CT assessment.

Control Classrooms

- Students fill out the student consent forms
- Students complete the attitudinal survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HYTT3TG) at the beginning and end of the year.
